Lou’s coaching philosophy centers on individual development as the foundation for team success. He emphasizes helping players understand their roles, responsibilities, and the importance of communication and technical fundamentals. By fostering a growth-oriented environment, Lou encourages players to give their best effort in every situation and to view setbacks as opportunities to learn and improve. His ultimate goal is for players to develop a love for the game by building confidence, having fun, and experiencing the joy of improvement.

Experience

Lou began his coaching career in 2005 as the head coach of the New Albany Freedom U-10 Boys. Over the years, he led boys’ teams from U-10 through U-17, competing locally in Ohio and regionally in the Midwest Regional League. In 2011, Lou joined the coaching staff at Olentangy Liberty High School, where the boys’ soccer program achieved remarkable success. During his five-year tenure, the team posted a record of 81-17-10, made four Division I Final Four appearances, finished as State Runners-Up twice, and captured the 2012 State Championship. Lou has helped develop two High School All-Americans and numerous players who continued their careers at the collegiate level. In 2023, he was inducted into the Olentangy Liberty Athletics Hall of Fame as part of the 2012 State Champion Team and Staff.


Originally from the suburbs of Cleveland, Lou began playing in Fairview Park and later with Erie Coast United. At Fairview High School, he was a three-year letter winner, earned All-Conference honors, and graduated holding the school’s assist record. Lou continued his playing career at Heidelberg University, where he earned three varsity letters while completing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He later earned his MBA from Ashland University.
